Prof. Zhu, who is an expert in Education at East China Normal University, visited S&P Consulting in December 2012. The purpose of his visit was to more precisely define the planned cooperation between S&P Consulting and the East China Normal University Distance Education Research Center (ECNUDEC). Within the scope of a research project under the direction of Prof. Zhu, S&P Consulting will develop and produce a PERFORMANCE SIMULATOR in order to qualify teachers in China in an intense and encompassing way.
The PERFORMANCE SIMULATOR is an innovative computer- and media-supported training tool, which enables large groups of employees to participate in a collective learning process, independently from time and location. It offers a learning environment, which applies experiential learning methods in a situated context to develop core competencies as well as specialized competencies.
Prof. Zhu has been advising the Chinese government on the plan of educational reform, which was passed in July 2010. This plan aims to significantly enhance the education quality within the Chinese higher and general education systems until 2020. Together with the project partners Dr. Helga Breuninger (Helga Breuninger Foundation) and Prof. Dr. Wilfried Schley (IOS Schley & Partner), S&P Consulting paved the way for various visits and contacts in Germany and Austria so that Prof. Zhu could get to know the innovative pedagogical concepts in the German-speaking countries.
The Helga Breuninger Foundation invited Prof. Zhu to visit the Montessori School in Potsdam, which received the German School Award in 2007. Thereafter, Prof. Zhu visited the Geschwister Scholl School in Tübingen, which is regarded as a lighthouse school for educational innovation. The benefactress Dr. Helga Breuninger together with the scientists and experts in Education also held a reception for Prof. Zhu in Stuttgart. During this event, Prof. Zhu swapped ideas with Jürgen Striby, head of teacher training in Baden-Wuerttemberg, and other experts in Education.
After the visit in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Prof. Dr. Wilfried Schley accompanied Prof. Zhu to Austria. Dr. Helmut Wachmann, who is in charge of the innovative work for the Neue Mittelschule (NMS) at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture in Vienna, gave Prof. Zhu an overview of his work. By visiting the Neue Mittelschule, Prof. Zhu was able to have a good understanding of the concept.
S&P Consulting is looking forward to the cooperation with Prof. Zhu and East China Normal University Distance Education Center and also to contributing to the teachers’ competency development within the Chinese educational system.
